Scandinavian style in the interior

Scandinavian style in the interior is, at the moment, one of the most popular styles in the world. Its aesthetics are determined by the peculiarities of the location of the countries in which this style appeared and their natural conditions. The concept of style is to fill the space with light and air. Also, its distinctive feature is lightness and naturalness. And this is no accident - the Scandinavian style in the interior is based on a large amount of light and a bright palette of colors and reflects the harmony of man with nature.

Development of the Scandinavian style

In the 80s of the 19th century, designers modernized the Scandinavian style in the interior to make it more functional. The advantages of the Scandinavian style in design were presented at an exhibition in Stockholm in 1930. A little later, in the 1950s, "Scandinavian style in the interior" appeared in the literature as a term. It happened after design exhibitions in the USA.

Features of the Scandinavian style in the interior

The basis of the Scandinavian style is: natural materials, functionality. It combines rigor, sophistication, and lightness at the same time. It is a design made in bright natural colors that radiates calmness, kindness and order.

Nowadays, the Scandinavian style is represented by two directions:

  • traditional;
  • modern.

Traditional Scandinavian style

The style takes its basis in the interiors of Sweden of the XVIII-XIX centuries. This is a kind of palace classic. This type reproduces severity and emphasizes the monetary status of the owners.

Modern Scandinavian style

This direction combines simplicity, functionality, softness and sophistication. There are no old-fashioned pictures in gold frames and bulky furniture. The business card of the style is the absence of everything superfluous and careful consideration.

Pillars on which the Scandinavian style stands:

Functionality with minimalism. There is nothing superfluous in the interior. Decor and details are minimal, furniture is only the most necessary. Interestingly, the situation does not seem empty. At first glance, a decorative object in the Scandinavian style has a hidden practical significance;

Lots of light. To allow light rays to enter the room, windows are often made large and complemented by light tulle and light curtains;

The furniture is simple, light, practical and elegant. Large shelves and racks on which you can put things to save even more space are popular. The shape of the furniture is rectangular or slightly rounded. It is combined with cabinet-type furniture. Scandinavian interior items are placed so that they occupy a minimum of space;

The main colors of the style - white, beige, blue, silver-gray, muted shades of yellow. However, white is dominant. As impregnations it is possible to use also bright tones which will add a zest to a restrained situation;

Patterns are either absent or neutral;

The floor is dominated by warm soft carpets and animal skins;

Preference is given to natural and environmentally friendly materials - wood, stone, gypsum plaster;

Cotton, linen and wool are most often used as textiles. Accessories are often lighting fixtures: floor lamps, sconces, table lamps. Mirrors without massive frames are also used.

In this project, we have implemented a cozy interior of two-level open space. The main emphasis in the design is on the frame of wooden structures and 3D panels in the form of bricks. Metal elements on the stairs and lamps above the table are harmoniously combined with geometric tiles in the kitchen area. The warm range of shades becomes even warmer together with the hot firebox in the corner of the room. Here are photos of two different design options.

Scandinavian style is the trend of the 2021 season

Scandinavian style in the interior is gaining popularity among customers and designers. Decorating a house in the Scandinavian style is as consistent as possible with the spirit of the time. Scandinavian style in design gives space, provides functionality and allows relaxation - something that modern man lacks.

The trend of 2021 is a neutral palette without bright contrasts. Modern man spends too much time in the house. Therefore, a large number of contrasting elements "irritates" the psyche, subconsciously causes negative feelings.

Scandinavian style in design 2021 occupies one of the first places, along with high-tech, minimalism and loft. The most popular colors of the season are white, beige, gray, light yellow, and light coffee. These are actually the colors on which the Scandinavian decor is based.

Another feature of 2021 is natural materials and wooden furniture. We began to spend more time at home. Therefore, the requirements for home comfort and good mood have become higher. For comfortable use you need wooden beds, chairs, tables.

Scandinavia in your home

The size of your room is not important for the Scandinavian style. Of course, if your house does not yet have internal partitions. Or if you can move the interior walls as you like - then you can create a luxurious space. But even if your building is small, or you live in an apartment building - you can create a small Scandinavia in your rooms.

Scandinavian style apartment

Scandinavian style in the apartment allows you to increase the amount of natural light. To do this, the rooms and rooms abandon the traditional curtains. Blinds or shutters can be installed on the windows. If necessary - they can be lowered on the window. But most of the day the window openings in the walls are open to the passage of sunlight into the room.

The design of the apartment in the Scandinavian style is sure to zone the space. This is important for small spaces. Zoning allows you to properly distribute the area and use it to maximum advantage.

Scandinavian style house

The design of the house in the Scandinavian style gives space for imagination. There is an area that can be occupied by furniture. There is free space. Therefore, designers of houses "for Scandinavia" offer comfortable functional furniture for kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms.

The peculiarity of furniture in the Scandinavian interior - clear geometric lines. Cabinets and shelves have precise rectangular shapes. But for variety, you can and welcome the use of individual wicker items, furniture. For example, rocking chairs, chairs, kitchen basket made of wicker.
