In this case, during the reconstruction, a two-story rectangular building with a semi-basement floor was located on the site. The main task was to adapt it for less mobile population groups and to design additional space. This rehabilitation center has a function not only for rehabilitation, but also for permanent residence. During the re-planning and reconstruction, we took into account all the nuances to ensure inclusiveness in the building and on the site.
In order to make full use of the entire area of the building, we turned the basement floor into a full-fledged one. This is also done at the expense of a retaining wall around the perimeter of the building. The difference between the terrain is leveled thanks to the ramp. On this floor, we have placed several living rooms, a kitchen-dining room and technical premises.
On the first and second floors there are living rooms for 1-2 people and blocks of rooms with their own bathroom. For other premises, the bathroom and shower are located on the floor. Movement between floors is possible for residents thanks to the elevator. The building also has an existing stairwell.
Interaction with plants always has a good effect on the mental and psychological health of each person, so we placed a winter garden on the roof with access to an exploited terrace, because the building is located on a plot with a lot of trees.
The exterior remains unchanged: we preserve the unique architecture of the old building by only renewing or restoring the finishing materials. The basement floor and the inserts between the windows are brick, all other surfaces are white plaster.
The designed new building is modern in its architecture and is almost entirely made of glass. It will be a public building that will combine an entrance group, a common living room that can be used as a workshop, a place for communication and board games. We are keeping the tree that is growing now on the site of the future building and it will be an interesting element of the interior design.
Above the entrance is a triangular concrete terrace supported by metal columns. The new building rises above the terrain with the help of columns. It will be possible to move from it to the sleeping building, which may be designed in the future.
